Cave Exploring

Kentucky is the home of one of the world’s most famous cave systems, the Mammoth Onyx Cave. This cave is nestled within the Mammoth Cave National Park which preserves the cave system as well as a portion of the Green River Valley. The Mammoth Onyx Cave is a part of a cave system which is considered as the world’s longest. More than 365 miles of it has been explored so far. The name Mammoth was coined from its vast system of chambers and twisting paths and complex labyrinths. Tours and explorations of the Mammoth Onyx Cave have been going on since 1816.

One of its most breathtaking features is the onyx waterfall which rises up to 78 feet above the trail.
